Is it true you can get Israeli citizenship without moving?

I’ve been looking into getting Israeli citizenship because my grandmother was Jewish, and I recently found all the birth records and documents that prove it. But here's the thing — I live in Canada, and I’m not planning to relocate right now. I read in a few places that you can still get citizenship even without living in Israel, but I wasn’t sure if that was legit. I remember someone here mentioned they did exactly that. Can you really go through the whole process remotely?

Yes, absolutely. I went through the full process recently and never had to relocate. According to https://welcome-israel.com/israeli-citiz...-residency , Israel allows people of Jewish descent to get citizenship under the Law of Return — even if they don’t plan to live there permanently. Once you prove your heritage, complete the paperwork, and pass the interview at the Jewish Agency, you can enter Israel once to activate your citizenship. After that, you’re not required to stay.

What’s great is that once you activate your status, you get access to rights like any other Israeli — including healthcare, visa-free travel to over 160 countries, and future residency if you ever want it. I know people who did it just to have the option open for the future, especially for business or family reasons. It’s a solid backup plan, and Israel doesn’t cancel your status if you live abroad.
